Looking for an easy DIY Christmas present for the men in your life?

Aftershave is super easy to make and is one of those products that is really easy to swap in pursuit of a chemical free home. Aftershave is one of the things that always used to trigger my asthma when I was younger, both when my dad used it and later when my husband would put it on in our tiny flat.

Nowadays he largely has a beard, and aftershave is unnecessary, but he infrequently uses it for the fragrance, and this DIY version works well and smells amazing. It makes a great Christmas present too.

You will need Witch hazel and vegetable glycerin, as well as some good quality essential oils. You will also want an 250ml spray bottle.

Basic Aftershave Recipe

  • 2 tbsp vegetable glycerin

  • 3/4 cup of witch hazel

  • Essential oil blend

That's it. Drop it into a dark coloured spray bottle (so that the sun doesn't damage the volatile oils) and make yourself a pretty label or tag.

Here are some ideas for the essential oils you could use to fragrance it, and they all have added benefits of supporting his body with their beneficial properties.

Forest Fresh

  • 20 drops of cedarwood

  • 10 drops vetiver

  • 10 drops bergamot

Hygge

  • 25 drop OnGuard

  • 10 drops sandalwood

A Wise Man

  • 20 drops of frankincense

  • 10 drops myrrh

Lavender Lover

  • 10 drops lavender

  • 10 drops patchouli

  • 10 drops clary sage

  • 5 drops lime

All of the above oils can be purchased through me by creating a doTERRA account.

Happy Christmas crafting!
