Looking After Your Second Liver?

I've been really enjoying some of the talks on the Toxic Home Transformation Summit this week, and tonight I've been listening to Summer Brock speaking on how to easily make fermented foods at home.
It's no secret that I'm a huge fan of the UK Fermenting Friends group on facebook, and I recommend it to all my clients as an excellent resource, but I figured I might pick something up from listening to Summer too.
I'm so glad I did, because she introduced me to the concept fo the 'second liver'.

The concept is simple.
Your gut microbiome is supposed to do almost the same job as your liver. The beneficial bacteria in your gut have the job of breaking down huge amounts of pathogens and toxic substances before they ever enter the bloodstream.
When your beneficial bacteria are deficient, you massively increase the toxic load on the liver. Yes, your liver can cope, but it's tough. It wasn't designed to work alone. It's designed to work with the microbiome.
This autumn, I'm going to be running a group cleanse to help support your body in preparation for winter. We'll be looking to love both of our livers, and enjoy better health all year around.
